Done on site
Railings, doors, elevators and furniture are refinished where they are. Nothing is removed, shipped away or replaced.
Prep is most of the job
Every surface is cleaned, degreased, sanded and primed where needed, and everything around it is masked before any paint goes on.
Refinish instead of replace
Metal that is worn but solid gets a new, even finish for a fraction of the disruption of replacing it.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
It is a way of spraying paint onto metal where the paint is given an electrical charge as it leaves the gun and the metal object is grounded. The charged paint is attracted to the metal, so it wraps around edges, tubes and corners instead of drifting past them. The result is an even coat on complicated shapes, far less overspray, and a finish that looks factory-applied, all done on site.
Anything made of conductive metal that can be grounded: steel, iron and aluminum. That covers railings, fences, gates, storefront frames, elevator doors, hollow-metal doors and frames, lockers, filing cabinets, appliances, radiators and much more. Wood, plastic, glass and drywall are not conductive, so they are masked off rather than painted.
No. Powder coating also uses a charge, but it applies a dry powder that has to be baked in an oven to cure, so the item must be removed and taken to a shop. Electrostatic painting uses liquid coatings that cure in place, which is why railings, doors and elevator panels can be refinished without coming off the building.
Usually not. Refinishing happens where the item is installed. We mask hardware, glass, floors and walls around it. Some small parts, such as appliance handles, are occasionally removed and done separately, and drawers or lockers need to be emptied before the work.
There is some odour while coating and while it sets, and how much depends on the product. Low-odour coatings are available for occupied buildings, homes and offices, and the work area is ventilated. In most jobs people simply stay clear of the area being refinished; we plan the schedule so residents or staff know in advance which areas are affected and when.
That depends mostly on the preparation and on how hard the surface is used. A finish applied over properly cleaned, sanded and primed metal behaves like a factory coating; one applied over grease or loose paint will fail no matter what product is used. That is why preparation takes up most of the time on every job.
